Accessibility statement
Last updated: 26.10.2026
The "Beit Lechem Yehuda" association attaches great importance to enabling every person, including persons with disabilities, to browse the website, obtain information, donate, volunteer and contact us independently and equally. The new website was built with accessibility in mind from the outset.
Accessibility level of the website
The website has been made accessible in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adaptations) Regulations, 5773-2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA, to the extent technologically possible. We have also applied adjustments from the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines, such as clearly visible field borders, autocomplete in forms and elements that are not hidden under the fixed menu.
The last accessibility review of the website was carried out on 26.10.2026.
What we have done on the website
- Keyboard navigation: All links, buttons, menus and forms are available using the keyboard (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter and Esc). Every element in focus has a clear outline.
- Skip to content: At the top of every page there is a "Skip to main content" link.
- Clear structure: Pages are built with hierarchical headings and marked regions (header, navigation, main content, footer), so that screen readers can navigate them.
- Alternative text: Images that convey information have alternative text. Decorative images and elements are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms: Every field has a label, required fields are marked, and error and success messages are displayed as text.
- Accessibility toolbar: Every page has a floating accessibility button in the bottom corner of the screen (or the keyboard shortcut Alt+A). It lets you enlarge the text up to 175%, switch to high contrast, a light background or monochrome, highlight links and headings, switch to a readable font, increase text spacing, stop animations and videos, enlarge the mouse pointer and strengthen the focus outline. Your settings are saved in the browser for your next visits.
- Contrast and text size: Text colors were chosen to have high contrast against the background. Text can be enlarged using the browser (Ctrl and +) up to 200% without losing content.
- Motion: Users who have set "reduce motion" in their operating system get the website without animations and without background videos. On every page you can stop all animations, carousels and videos with "Stop animations" in the accessibility toolbar, and the carousels also pause when you hover over them with the mouse or reach them with the keyboard.
- Responsive display: The website is adapted to desktop, tablet and phone, and to common browsers.
- Language and direction: The English pages are set to English and left-to-right direction (the Hebrew pages to Hebrew, right-to-left), so that screen readers read them correctly.
Known limitations
- The background videos on the website are for atmosphere only, contain no speech or information, and therefore have no captions.
- The payment page for credit card donations, as well as the JGive and Nedarim Plus websites, are operated by third parties, and their accessibility is the responsibility of their operators.
- Links to articles on the "From the Media" page lead to external websites that are not under our control.
We continue to test and improve the website. If you nevertheless come across an element that is not accessible, we would be glad if you let us know.
